The MI-Diaries app is a component of the MI-Diaries initiative developed by Michigan State University's Sociolinguistics Lab. This venture aims to gather audio diaries from individuals residing in Michigan aged 3 and above, with a focus on documenting their experiences during the lockdown periods and beyond. To find out more about the project and register, Michigan residents can visit the project's official website at mi-diaries.org.
Participating diarists will receive periodic emails from the project team containing a curated set of audio diary prompts. Examples of prompts include questions like "Was there a particular news headline that caught your attention this week?" Diarists have the liberty to respond to any, all, or none of these prompts – it is entirely up to them if they wish to share insights about their daily lives.
Furthermore, diarists are given the choice of whether they want their narratives to be showcased on the MI-Diaries website. Every week, a selection of stories is made by the team that sheds light on the diverse experiences and perspectives shared by the diarists during that period.
